This 100% Cinsault comes from vines planted in 1968 on a Darling farm — fruit that Old Vine Project founder Rosa Kruger has named among her personal favourite Cinsaults in South Africa. It shows the variety at its most classical: fragrant and perfumed, with red berry and Turkish Delight character layered over soft spice and a savoury, earthy depth that's developed with age. Made with minimal intervention and no additions beyond a touch of sulphur, it was built for exactly this kind of patient ageing.
Master of Wine Greg Sherwood scored the wine 94 points, praising it as expressive yet "impressively classical and restrained." It's a wine that's earned a devoted following, and a decade on, it remains a compelling case for why some bottles are worth the wait.
